Fun New Years Eve Events in Portland

It’s hard to believe it’s almost 2020. I still remember Y2K like it was yesterday, yet here we are. Well, no matter what you do, say or feel, the world keeps turning and the years pile up. Guess that’s why we always say, “live for today!” Time is nothing but a series of “today’s” and “nows” and, well, you get the picture. Live life to the fullest! And on that, ringing in the new year is the best way to start. So, here are a handful of really cool New Year’s Eve events to choose from in and around PDX. Perhaps I’ll see you at one?

A Pink Martini New Year’s Eve Celebration

Held at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, it doesn’t get much better than a live, Pink Martini show for ringing in the new year. This incredible group is all style and so darn entertaining. Thomas Lauderdale and company really bring it…so this is one event you should definitely hit (if you get tickets in time!). Presented by Monqui, along with the Portland Youth Philharmonic and very special guest Ari Shaprio, this will be cool indeed. Tickets range from $34-$115 and they’re going ultra-fast! Details here.

NYE Blue Skies Concert

Well, let’s keep the fun band action going with premiere Pacific Northwest dance band Blue Skies. This incredibly entertaining group will be playing its smooth big band sound at The Oregon Garden. A bit south, down in Silverton, Oregon, it’ll be worth the drive. Fancy dancing? Indeed. This is a 20’s-themed event that will feature appetizers, swing dance lessons and champagne! Get the Details here.

The Governor’s Ball

Looking for some serious swank? This ultra-high-end ball was created (originally) for a more discerning, higher-end clientele. Ticket pricing reflects this aim with entry starting at $125, but decadence reigns here. Taking place at The Sentinel Hotel, this event includes a 3-course meal at Jakes to kick things off. Heck, I’d probably pay $125 just for the dinner…so while higher-end, this looks to be a great value! Get the Details here.

The Whole She-Bang! A New Year’s Eve Pink Party!

Looking for something epic and fun that features the color pink…and all that goes with it? Well, this event that will be held at the Alberta Rose Theatre looks to be the ticket. Featuring great performances from March Fourth, The Saloon Ensemble, jazz/burlesque troupe The Cat’s Meow (featuring Pink Lady), there will also be special DJ rooms, lounge zones, crazy stage shows and more. Entertainment with a capital E! Get the Details here.

DJ Anjali & The Incredible Kid New Year’s Eve Celebration

This huge dance party at Polaris Hall will be high energy and well-attended. The pick of many editors around town, this event guarantees great music and dancing…a recipe for a fantastic evening. Portland’s DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid will be performing along with Adam McCollom. A Bhangra dance performance will also happen featuring DJ Anjali and The Gulabi Gang. Spectacle for sure! $28 in advance, $30 at the door (if it’s not already at capacity!). Get the Details here.

Remember to be Safe

New Year’s Eve is a great night to celebrate, but please be safe, move around in groups and don’t drink and drive! Uber, Lyft, Radio or Broadway Cab…well, you get the picture. Heck, most cabs are giving free rides on this wild night to discourage dangerous driving. Be careful and make good choices so you’re around for 2021!
