Spooky Recipes and Northern Lights!

Well, Halloween weekend is upon us and we have much to be excited about. Things are a bit more “normal” this year with many ghostly activities available. But that said, maybe you’re still sticking close to home? If so, here are a few fun things to both make and watch for. Featured below are links to three Halloween-themed recipes I created on another site, using a tool that assists people with developmental disabilities (particularly autism). The step-by-step recipes are VERY easy to follow, so your kids could even lead the charge! Simply scan (or touch if on a phone) the QR code below to explore these fun recipes. You can also just click on the recipe image if on a desktop or laptop.

Not sure you can fly with these savory treats, but they’re a nice, healthier alternative to the rest of the sweets offered below. Image: Dan Meyers

While it’s not tough for most to make brownies, this is a fun way to make these yummy treats “Oh so Halloween!” Enjoy. Image: Dan Meyers

Northern Lights in the NW???

As if Halloween weekend wasn’t lining up special already, but now we may get to see the Northern Lights shining in our night sky! Indeed, there’s a solid chance (weather and cosmos permitting) that this incredible, natural light show will grace us over this Halloween weekend. Apparently there was a big solar flare, called a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) on October 28th, which could trigger the northern lights to be visible in the northern U.S. The forecast from NOAA states we could see this amazing spectacle as far south as Oregon! Weather permitting, meaning we don’t want any clouds, keep an eye out on the night sky, particularly looking northward, through the weekend. Having never seen the northern Lights live myself, I’m all over it! And what a great thing to amp up all those Halloween parties and trick or treating! ;).
