MIRACLE OF A MILLION LIGHTS
With the holiday season well upon us there are so many great places to go to foster your spirit via fantastic lights. From a cruise of the lights at PIR to SE PDX’s Peacock Lane to the Oregon Zoo for its Zoolights, the options are many. With a family of four, and two young kids onboard, I try to make it to as many of these things as possible (within reason). After all, kids are only young once. Yet, even sans kids, experiencing great holiday lights is both enjoyable and festive. And lets face it, unless your Clark Griswald, your house lights won’t really compare. So, in sifting through the options of those I’ve been to personally, I’m sharing my absolute favorite: Victorian Belle’s Miracle of a Million Lights. And while the overall location isn’t the very best, and on a crowded night parking can be a little tricky, this light show is well worth it. Plus, it’s close to the PIR cruise, so you can easily do both in one visit.
Outside and in, the holiday lights and decorations at the Victorian Belle mansion are simply stunning. It’s hard to imagine how much work goes into the effort here, but it’s not small. From the immaculately-decorated trees to the wreaths and character displays, well, it just goes on and on. It’s so complete that I have vowed to return in mid-May just to see what the place looks like far-removed from the holidays. Yet the Victorian Belle is much more than just decorations, rather, there are live performances, interior tours, Santa photos, heated outdoor movies, great food…a lot to choose from. Here’s a great quote from the Victorian Belle website that gives more perspective on the activities available (outside of a visit to just stroll around, which is well worth it on its own):
