Marvelous Mucca
I write a fair bit about food on this blog. There is a reason for that: I like to eat. Not just to maintain energy, I like to eat great food and this when I find it I like to share. I think it is important to turn people on to great restaurants, as well as to reward great restaurants for standing out amongst an increasingly crowded Portland field... Thus, “Marvelous Mucca,” or more properly, Mucca Osteria, a quaint and truly tremendous example of authentic Italian food that has its home right downtown.
I’ve been to Mucca several times, always returning when I have the budget and the desire for high-end Italian. Yes, this isn’t a place to go grab a quick lasagna or a plate of basic spaghetti. Rather, at Mucca you can find things like Costine di Maiale (Meyer Lemons Glazed Sous-Vide Pork Short Ribs ~ Caramelized Peaches ~ Spring Onions ~ Watermelon Mustard) $36, or Bistecca di Manzo* (10 ounce Painted Hills Top Sirloin ~ Broccolini ~Tomato Gastrique ~ Pickled Vegetables ~ Mint-Cucumber Yogurt ~ Olive Oil Powder) $39. See their full menu.
And their dessert menu is to die for; short but very sweet.
