The Pumpkin Patch
So over the years I’ve been to many, many different pumpkin patches. Having kids drives you there, as does a never-ending sense of "kidness” inside of me. I just love corn mazes, hay rides, fresh vegetables and the Halloween spirit. Too much fun. So, it’s no surprise that my family made it to the opening weekend of what many consider the preeminent pumpkin patch in the NW….The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie’s Island. Needless to say, we weren’t disappointed…(and don’t let the rain fool you (just means smaller crowds))…it just gets better every year.
And now for a bit of video, courtesy of The Pumpkin Patch:
As noted in the video, the Pumpkin Patch isn’t just a Halloween thing. They actually open in June, with fresh strawberry picking. All through the summer their Pumpkin Patch store is rife with incredibly fresh produce of the highest and tastiest quality. My haul this last weekend? Three key things: 1) Bacon Burbon BBQ Sauce, make especially for The Pumpkin Patch (did some chicken with this last Sunday and…WOW), 2) Peaches and Cream Sweet Corn. This corn comes once a year and it is unbelievably good. Get some! 3) Farm fresh apples. Just like out at my grandmother’s. A haul of apples from the Pumpkin Patch is not a bad decision. One can also purchase beef through the Pumpkin Patch Cattle Company.
