Seven Great Events for St. Patrick's Day 2023 in Portland

Portland will be buzzing for St. Patrick's Day 2023. And while there are still cases of COVID-19, along with other, troublesome viruses, people are getting out more and finding their comfort zones to celebrate. Portland will play the welcoming friend this year as there are numerous restaurants and bars in the area that will be offering festive specials throughout the day and into the green night. From traditional Irish-themed fare to creative takes on classic dishes, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Take a look below at a curated list of some of the best (IMO) events in and around PDX for this year’s celebration:

Seven GREaT EVENTS FOR ST. Patrick's Day 2023 in Portland:

1. Portland Shamrock 5K: A festive and fun 5K race that celebrates Irish culture with music, dance performances, games and activities for all ages!

2. St Patrick’s Day Parade: Led by bagpipers through downtown streets decorated with green decorations and featuring local organizations marching together to celebrate the holiday season!

4. Irish Festival 2023: Running March 10-19, the Irish Festival at Tom Mccall Waterfront Park will feature games, music, crafts, and more. A collaborative effort by Kell’s and Shamrock Run Portland, this festival will be ground zero for all things green…especially when the Shamrock Run culminates at the park.

5 . All-Ireland Cultural Society of Oregon St. Patrick’s Day Festival: Taking place on Friday, March 17, celebrate the 82nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival hosted by the All-Ireland Cultural Society of Oregon. Join in for a magical day filled with Irish dancers, live music, a puppet show, bagpipes, a raffle, and more! Food and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the event, which runs from 4:30 - 9:30 p.m. Don't miss out on this unique Irish experience!

6. Paddy' 2023 St. Patrick's Day Festival: Experience St. Patrick's Day with Paddy's for one of Portland’s best celebrations. Join in on Friday, March 17th, and help us raise money for The Children’s Cancer Association, as a portion of the net proceeds will be donated directly to them. Enjoy live Irish music, bagpipers, Irish dancers, corned beef and cabbage, Guinness Kilbeggan whiskey, and more - all while skipping the line with optional "skip the line" tickets now available. 7. St. Paddy's Day Thrash w/ Long Knife, Weekend Kids & Here's Your Warning: For hardcore music lovers, The Midnight and The Six have designed an epic St. Paddy's Day Thrash! Featuring electrifying performances from Long Knife, Weekend Kids, and Here's Your Warning, plus DJ Queen Amygdala Upstairs and Smooth Hopperator downstairs - this event is not to be missed. While this list is just seven events long, my guess is you just need one or two great ideas to properly celebrate St. Patrick’s Day 2023 here in Portland. So, check it out, see what might fit your appetite for fun and go for it. Just remember not to drink and drive, or smoke and drive, as with spirits flowing in many locales, well, just be wary.
